Wednesday Weekend Rewind: Congratulations Anna & Phong

What a crazy long weekend it was.  Kicked off Friday night by packing a few things for a road trip back up to the Bay Area to visit my cousins.  Well, more like her Engagement party!  eeeekk >_<  can I be more excited for the wedding?  Yes, I am overly excited!

I wish I could have visited my great friend Lora, I miss her so much.  I really hope she is doing well.  The weather was crazy cold, bone chilling cold.  I don't think I could ever move back to northern California.  I love the weather here in southern Cali, much preferred.

Set out Saturday morning and made it up there in about 5 hours.  Later that night, we headed out to San Francisco to take my little sister and her boyfriend to Fisherman's Wharf.  Yeah...Bay area, way to cold for a So cal girl.

Berkeley Hill overlooking San Francisco Bay

If you ever make a trip to San Francisco, visit Berkeley Hill.  The hills have spectacular views that overlooks the valleys that surrounds the San Francisco Bay.

Sunday's Engagement party, and the house was full of family and friends.  If I had to guess I say there was well over 100 guest, full house.  Weddings always make me teary eye.  But nothing beats seeing my auntie ball her eyes out as her baby girl is all grown up and looking beautiful.  I wish I had my camera, it was such a happy day.  That same evening, we set out on the road back home and made it back to LA just before midnight.

My outfit to the engagement party...

 Forever 21: Dress $13.50
Fergalicious: Black pumps $29.99

Even though it was 55 degrees cold to my bones, who says you can't find a nice dress for under $20?  Or $15?  The black shoes are the same pair I wore for Chinese New Year, repeat pieces are always fun.  Half the people at the party dressed up and the other half of the people attend in casual or not so dressed up attire.  But I figure since it was an engagement party, it's always better to look a bit more put together than jeans.  It is a celebration.

What do you wear to an engagement party?

Tuesday Tip: Jazz up Yogurt

When a 6 oz cup of yogurt just isn't enough, add fresh fruits.  Not only will it keep you from going hungry midway to lunch, it's healthy and you get your extra serving of fruit to fill.

Healthy alternative:
Plain yogurt
1 tbs strawberry jam
1 banana (sliced)

Sticking to my New Year's Resolution, replacing my undying love for potato chips with healthier choices is not my cup of tea.  But it's yummy!
What's your favorite yogurt mix-in?

Creative Thursday: Color and Paint

One of my New Year's resolution this year was to spend more time painting.  I thought it would be the perfect first entry for a new series: Creative Thursday.  One day of the week, I will share anything and everything that inspires me to create.

Dreaming of Paris... as of late... how I wish I could one day visit you.  Is Paris really as wonderful and charming as the movies portray?

The shabby chic, English-country cottage style that inspires all things classic and pretty.  This is what I feel when I think of Paris.   White and pink with a hint of soft magenta blended over a turquoise sky.

I used a 20X24 inch canvas, 1 3/8 inch thickness.  To protect the colors and canvas from fading I sealed it with a clear protective finish.

La vie est belle, French for 'Life is beautiful'.  The painting turned out pretty.  The two-tone pinks and turquoise will add that pop of color to any space, a little reading nook or bed side by the head board.  It would sit lovely over the fire place or mantel with a bundle of peonies, or any fresh flowers.  I didn't want to add any more to the painting because I wanted the details of the Eiffel Tower to stand out, and the colors as well.  Sometimes, less is more.

But not always =)  Photos, cards and little notes are always a fun pop of colors.  And a great way to add personal touch.

All of my Creative Thursday projects will be posted in my Etsy Shop Fancifulchaos.etsy.com, available for purchase if interested.

La vie est belle, life is beautiful.  Get creative.  Chao!
