Happy St. Patrick's Day

Finding a four leaf clover is 10,000 to 1, so they say.  As a little girl growing up, I believed four leaf clovers were real.  I remember searching in the patches of clovers to find that lucky one.  Somewhere along the way I started to believe that four leaf clovers were as real as unicorns.  I grew up... I never found that four leaf clover, but it is still nostalgic to see them when they flourish just before Spring.  I just recently learned that four leaf clover are in deed real.  Until I stumble upon a lucky clover, here is one I picked in my garden to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick's Day!  May good luck be your friend in whatever you do!

Today, I am visiting my newborn nephew and hopefully get some photography shots before he grows up before my eyes.

How are you spending St. Patrick's Day?

February is going to be a busy month, not shop-wise, lots of things going on outside of my Etsy and blogging world.  This year, the Chinese Lunar New Year happens to fall on my birthday, round up of what seems like a busy short month:

Feb 10th - I'm turning 28 years old
Feb 10th to 13th - Celebrating Chinese New Year with Family for 3 days
Feb 14th - My great friend Lora is visiting from nor-cal, we agreed that we we're going to be each other's Valentine this year
Feb 12th to 22nd - My first nephew, Ayden, will be born.  I'm so excited to be Auntie Nancy.  I already have plans to turn him into a bookworm and have Ayden and Auntie Nancy time at the Library and bookstore =)
- Donate my hair
- Book a flight to Washington DC for Spring Break and the National Cherry Blossom festival

Tomorrow I'm expecting a thunderstorm, a much needed thunder storm.  Because we don't get much rainstorms in southern California, I always make sure I take advantage of the sight and sound of rainstorms when it does come.  I can brew a cup of hot tea and cozy up in my fluffy socks and get enthrall in a good book.  Sound of rain + fluffy socks + good book = a great day.

My Etsy Shop Packaging

I get a lot of compliments from customers about the way I package my Etsy orders, and it always makes my day when I receive private e-mails telling me how happy it makes them.  Even for a moment it really feels like Christmas every time.  My packaging have not changed much, I'm still using left over scrap papers that come from the customers actual orders.  I hate to throw away pretty color paper, even if they're scraps, so I knew I had to find a way to incorporate them into packaging without it seeming tacky.

What I must have on hand at all times are glassine bags, paper doily, tabs, thread and my sewing machine.  The pop of color comes from the scraps that are left over from paper cut outs from the customers order.  It also makes it easy to coordinate a color scheme for the packaging when all I do is take the already existing color combinations from customer orders.  See how the package colors matches the product inside the bags.  Sweet and simple, effective and resourceful.  Yes, it does take a little more time than just putting the order in a mailing envelop, but if you like putting smiles on faces, and adding a little touch of whimsy, jazzing up sweet little packages is one way to do it.  I like to make it a bit more personal by handwriting customers name on their packages.  I like to use tabs in two different colors, usually cream and kraft or white and kraft, and a black fine point sharpie marker.  Writing the names on the package also helps me to keep organized so I never confuse orders.

Imagine how beautiful these would look as wedding favors filled with little goodies or confetti for the Bridal toss.  I'm currently working on a few projects for Spring Weddings, Bridal and Baby Showers.  More to come for the shop

I am ever so grateful for how far FancifulChaos has come.
